The Best 12 Month Wedding Planning Checklist to Help You Easily Plan Your Wedding Day

Before we began discussing how you can easily plan your wedding within 12 months, I want to first say a massive congratulationsssss!! Now that you are newly engaged it is time for you to start the wedding planning process for your dream wedding with the love of your life. 

If you were thinking about having a year long engagement, then this is the best wedding planning checklist for you.

But if you were planning on having either a shorter engagement like 6 months or you were planning on having a longer engagement like 24 months then you can go read my other posts which will better help you to prepare for your wedding!

When it comes to planning your wedding, this can be a very stressful time since there is so much for you to remember and to get done before the morning of your wedding day.

However, that is why checklists are the best for planning literally anything because as you complete a task off of the list you can just check it off and move on to the next one.

To help make sure that your wedding planning is as stress free as possible, down below you will find a 12 month wedding planning timeline that you can write down and use as reference to make sure that you do not forget anything when planning your dream wedding day!

12 Month Wedding Planning

12 Months Before

~ Start a Pinterest board for wedding inspiration and ideas

~ Create a wedding budget with your fiancé and family

~ Decide on where you want to have your wedding

~ Pick your wedding date

~ Start researching ceremony and reception venues in the area that you want to have your wedding at

~ Decide on what you want your wedding colors to be

~ Start figuring out who all you want to invite to your wedding (If you are having trouble deciding whether you should invite someone or not, then you can ask yourself these questions to help you decide if they should receive an invite or not)

11 Months Before

~ Start researching and scheduling tours at your wedding venue(s)

10 Months Before

~ Book your reception and ceremony wedding venues

~ Start looking at wedding invitations or save the date cards and try to add your wedding colors into the design of the invites

~ Start creating your wedding website (If you want to create a wedding website but don’t know what all you should include on it you can read here to find out)

9 Months Before

~ Start looking at wedding photographers or videographers in the area where the wedding will be held

~ Finish creating your guest list

~ Order the save the date cards

~ Pick the people that you want to be in your wedding party

~ Book your wedding photographer or videographer

8 Months Before

~ Book your caterers

~ Start creating your wedding registry (Amazon, Target)

~ Start looking at flower bouquets for inspiration

7 Months Before

~ Buy your wedding attire

~ Have your partner buy their wedding attire

~ Book your florist and decide on how you want your bouquet, your bridesmaid’s bouquet, and your groomsmen’s boutonnieres

~ Book your DJ or your band

6 Months Before

~ Send out your save the date cards

~ Book your baker for your wedding cake and for your dessert menu

~ Start looking at where you and your fiancé want to have your honeymoon

~ Have everyone in your wedding party get everything they need for their wedding attire 

~ Book musicians for your ceremony and for the cocktail hour

5 Months Before

~ Start researching hair and makeup ideas

~ Order tables and chair rentals if your venue does not already provide them 

~ Book your officiant

~ Book your rehearsal dinner venue

~ Book the place that you will be staying at for your honeymoon and if you are flying to get there go ahead and book your plane tickets

4 Months Before

~ Order your wedding invitations

3 Months Before

~ Buy you and your fiancé wedding rings 

~ Buy the wedding favors

~ Buy any extra stuff for the ceremony

~ Buy any extra stuff for the reception

2 Months Before

~ Finalize the wedding cake and dessert menu with the quantity needed 

~ Purchase gifts for the wedding party and for both of the parents

~ Create a song playlist for your reception (If you need ideas on what songs you should add to your wedding reception playlist to make sure everybody dances the night away you can read it here)

1 Month Before

~ Finish the program for the ceremony

~ Create your seating chart along with assigning the table numbers

~ Get your marriage license

~ Finish writing up your vows for each other

~ Create a day-of emergency kit for your wedding day

~ Pack for your honeymoon (Whether you are going to the beach or a cabin in the mountains for your honeymoon you can click here to get a packing list to make sure that you do not forget anything for your trip)

~ Create your dinner menu cards

~ Mail your rehearsal dinner invitations

~ Make sure all vendors and caterers have been paid 

~ Put money aside to tip your vendors

  2. I am really impressed with your writing skills and also with the format on your blog. Is that this a paid subject matter or did you modify it your self? Anyway stay up the excellent high quality writing, it is uncommon to see a great weblog like this one nowadays..

    1. Thank you so much!! Writing has always been one of my strengths. All I did was use the free version of the Vandana Lite theme on WordPress and I modified and formatted the rest to my liking. But trust me when I tell you it took a lot of trial and errors as well as constantly changing the theme I was using, however, I think I am finally happy with how everything looks.
